Rockport Horse Rescue @ Amore' Ranch
Rockport Horse Rescue (RHR) is located at 3201 FM 1069, Rockport, Tx 78382. RHR was founded in February 2013 by John and Michelle Hird. Since opening to the public in April 2013, the rescue has rescued 40+ horse, two dairy calves and a donkey and have successfully adopted out the 2 Dairy calves, 29 horses, and put the Donkey to work guarding the other animals. Sadly, in 2013 two were lost; a Beautiful mare named Amore' and a sweet gelding named Baby. In 2014 A beautiful thoroughbred named Friday passed as well. Sweet Yanaha sadly passed on October 11,2014.
Amore' was the one that inspired John and Michelle to carry out with the Rescue on a larger scale and in her honor, renamed the ranch "Amore' Ranch". The ranch is open by appointment only. The Hirds not only care for the horses but open the Ranch to Volunteers, Homeschool Groups and Community service groups. Sharing the Ranch life with others is very important to the Hirds. It provides a form of education that some children may not have access to and a great way for the community to come together. (updated 10/26/2015)

Heart and pride and old rusty shoes
Horseshoes you see are like some people you know
Some of them stay on while others get throwed
Some stay straight, others get bent
And even others just kinda hang on and never do as their meant
But I know of some specially good shoes that hang on a fence
And do all they can do to help pay the rent
Yep, they have already served to protect a hoof from a stone
And many were there to prop up a sore bone
They all hang there so proud on that pretty fence
Still working for horses, like they all have good sense
Tho’ they are all used and worn and covered with grime
There still working for horses who have had a rough time
And this my good friends is where you can come in
And help these fine shoes,
feed some old and good horses to their beginning or end
It just don’t cost much to hang a shoe with your name inside
And bare all witness to your heart and pride
If you have any questions bout fences, horses or a rusty old shoe
Please ask Big John or Michelle at the Rockport Horse Rescue
